Pilot Program: Extra Week at Winnebago!

Introducing a pilot program for completing merit badges!  Weeks 3 & 4 at camp, troops can return for a second week of camp for only $225 per scout to finish partial merit badges. Have a pool party this summer with your troop or pack!  We provide the lifeguards, a grill, and the great outdoors. You provide the food and fun! Kids all ages are welcome with parent supervision! Saturday, July 8, 15, 22, and 29th from 5 PM – 8 PM.

On a beautiful spring weekend, we welcomed more than 70 families to our Cub Scout Day Camp Open Houses. Cub scouts enjoyed a variety of activities, archery, bb guns, painting crafts, and field games, while experiencing a part of a day at summer camp.

Patriots’ Path Council Awards Celebration – Recap

PATRIOTS’ PATH COUNCIL HONORS
ADULT VOLUNTEERS AND YOUTH LEADERS

Over 100 people came out to Winnebago Scout Reservation on Saturday May 6 for the Patriots’ Path Council Awards Celebration.

The council presented the 2023 Silver Beaver Awards along with Trailblazer Awards, Youth Leadership Awards, Venturing Leadership Awards, the PPC Alumnus of the Year Award and the Silver Antelope Award.

There were 22 award recipients in total who were recognized for their contributions to Scouting.

These deserving Scouts and Scouters have made an impact on all levels of Scouting and the council is fortunate to have them as volunteers and youth leaders.

PPC Adventures Update 5/18

This past week we had some fun and exciting Scouting adventures.

  • On Tuesday May 9th, 11 Scouts completed the Music Merit Badge under the guidance of MB counselor Deb Minenna.
  • On Saturday May 13th, 11 Scouts finished up their work in the Aviation Merit Badge at Morristown Airport. Tom Flatley was the MB counselor for this exciting program.
  • Also, on Saturday Cub Scouts and their families participated int the For the Birds program at Camp Somers.
  • At Winnebago Saturday two different groups of Scouts completed the Welding Merit Badge under the direction of Charlie Sonzogni.
  • At Winnebago Scouts from Crew 28 Chatham, Troop 53 Fords, and Troop 106 NNJ enjoyed troop shooting at the rifle range.

Skylands Scouts BSA Spring Camporee Recap

The Skylands District hosted its Spring Scouts BSA Camporee the weekend of April 21-23 at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation, Camp Somers.  The event was also known as “Scouts BSA Adventure Challenge”.

Approximately one hundred Scouts from ten troops participated in team building exercises and races, testing their skills in problem solving and mystery solving. Scouts had a great time trying activities different from past traditional camporees.
