Klondike Derby Season:

This past weekend we kicked-off the 2023 Klondike Derby Season. This meant we had two great events happening at the same time.

At Winnebago Scout Reservation we had the Skylands District with 367 Scouts on 44 sleds taking part in this year’s event. We also had 50 adults and volunteers. Crew 17 was there to support our Scouts. Skylands hosted this event as a multi-day event. They continued the tradition of having a Saturday night feast. A special thank you to the staff that worked in the kitchen in order to prepare a meal for 343 people on Saturday night.

Pioneer District was at Watchung Reservation, home to one of our 2023 Summer Day Camp Programs as well as PPC Adventure Programs during the Scouting year. Pioneer had two shifts of sleds which included 51 sleds from 31 different troops and 416 Scouts participated. Again, with gratitude and thanks to the 50 adults who were there as staff and leaders to support this year’s event.
