How to purify water in the wild
There are few places in North America where you can safely drink water from a lake or stream. So unless you camp where safe drinking water is readily available, you’d best bring your own. But at about 8 pounds per gallon, water can be a real drag if you have to carry it far. The alternative is to go light and purify what you need.
Learn more about safe drinking water in the 2015 September-October issue of Scouting magazine here: How to purify water in the wild (scoutingmagazine.org)
POPCORN SEASON FOR SCOUTING IS HERE!
Last year popcorn helped Scout units to earn $396K to support Scouting locally. It is not too late io get in on the action. We currently have popcorn in stock if your unit wants to do Show and Sell (Booth Sales) or if you prefer we have materials for Take Order (traditional door to door sales). First step is deciding to sell and we will help you to be successful! For questions please contact Jason Dugan [email protected]
Popcorn is a great way for every Pack, Troop and Crew to fund the programs they would like to do, from a weekend camping trip, to Philmont, to the National Jamboree. Now is the time to commit to this year’s campaign! There is no risk to your unit and you can earn up to 40% commission on top of earning prizes and rewards for individual Scout sales.

On Monday mornings six buses arrive bringing Scouts to Camp Somers Trailblazer Day Camp and Cub Scouts to Camp Wheeler Cub Scout Day Camp. Watchung Regional Day Camp opened with four buses of Cub Scouts when the excitement of the outdoors will came alive for our Cubs, offering fishing, BB guns and archery, among other activities.
On Sunday, July 10th, Scouts and their leaders arrived in Rockaway, NJ, at Winnebago Scout Reservation for a fun-filled outdoor adventure. The first week of summer camp was one of the largest of the summer, where Scouts made memories that will last a lifetime.
