Raritan Valley Awards Recognition Dinner

Raritan Valley successfully celebrated its annual awards recognition. The district recognized over 30 unit leaders, presented their Cubmaster and Scoutmaster of the year, 4 District Award of Merit, along with the presentation of Doug Dzwonczyk’s Silver Beaver. We want to congratulate all the honorees and thank everyone who helps the district be successful.

Update: Jockey Hollow Special Needs Fish-O-Ree

Pack and Troop 118 from Central Park School sent a very nice thank you card for putting together their fish-o-ree. We’re happy they all had a nice time.

 

Sixty students, teachers, and parents from Central Park School participated in this years special needs Fishoree. It was a beautiful day to be outside and at the lake. Thank you to those who participated, and a big thank you to those who helped. Everyone had a great time.

4th of July Closing

In observance of the holiday Patriots’ Path Council will be closed on Monday July 4th, 2022. This includes the Cedar Knolls Scout Service Center, The Kurland Family Scout Shop and the Mountainside Scout Shop.

 

State Police Camporee

New Jersey State Police Camporee huge success!

After 5 years and many hours of planning the New Jersey State Police Camporee is back. 4,000 Scouts from all over New Jersey took part, including 800+ from the Patriots’ Path Council. Scouts took part in both static and interactive active activities provided by the New Jersey State Police, the New Jersey National Guard and the all the participating local councils. Special thank you to the Patriots’ Path Council Chess Club and their adult volunteers, as Patriots’ Path provided chess as our council sponsored program.

Staff Updates

After 17 years of service, it is with mixed emotions that we announce Al Thomas has decided to

spend more time at home in retirement with his wife, Grace, and his daughter Miranda. Al has begun

his retirement on June 6. He and his family will continue to reside in Chatham. Al came to the

Patriots’ Path Council in 2006, after serving several years as a volunteer and after a full career with

the United States Postal Service. Al joined the staff as district executive in the Sussex District. He was

later promoted to senior district executive and began his tenure giving leadership to the

Fishawack District. Join us in wishing Al and his family all the best as he begins his next adventure in life.

Regional Day Camp

Bring the Summer heat on! Grades 2 through 5 are welcome to join us this summer at Camp Wheeler for five weeks of fun in the sun. Get ready for archery, boating, mountain biking, fishing, swimming, and a lot more!

Bus transportation is available from many locations i  n Morris and Sussex counties.

Regional Day Camp brings summer camp to you! Watchung Reservation in Mountainside offers four weeks of day camp with bus transportation included from surrounding areas. Camp offers shooting sports, fishing, hiking, water fun, crafts, a new STEAM program area and much more. Small groups also get a tour of the Trailside Nature and Science Center.

All of our camps are open to boys and girls, Scouts and non-Scouts.

 

Grades 6 and up, Camp Somers is home to one of the best day camp and resident camp programs. Trailblazer day camp offers a great first year program and an awesome program for returning higher experienced youth.

Bus transportation is included.

Resident camp options include camping with your troop for a week or attending one of our Specialty Programs the week of August 7-13. You can book multiple weeks for more fun! We promise the adventure will keep going!

 

Camp Winnebago offers unit based camping this summer with an all new canopy tour. Zip line across the lake and take in the views. Get ready to learn about blacksmithing and many other unique merit badges!

PPC Adventures – Hooked on Fishing

On Sunday June 5th Patriots Path Council supported the ‘Hooked on Fishing’ program offered by NJ Fish and Wildlife.  About 50 Scouts, and their families enjoyed the morning fishing at Camp Somers, MASR, and Winnebago Scout Reservation.  Paul Minenna and Jay DeBoey were the lead volunteers at the respective locations.  Many fish were caught with prizes awarded to the top four largest fish at each location.
