Cub Scouts Learn About Backyard Birds

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Cub Scouts and families participated in a fun adventure to discover the birds in their backyard. Included in each session was a discussion of local birds, a snack, and the opportunity to build either a bird feeder or a birdhouse kit.

A total of 56 Scouts and siblings accompanied by their parents participated at Winnebago and Watchung Reservation. For the construction of the birdhouses and bird feeders, special thanks go to the Flintlocks (John Koneski, Michael Hart, Bob Pysher, Jeff Huppert, Frank Wallace and Dave Green). A big thank you was also earned by Mitch Erickson, Magda Menner and Marc Maratea, who offered their expertise on bird study to facilitate the program.

While the weather could have cooperated more, everyone had a great time.
