Cub Scouts Look to the Stars During Program

On Friday, March 18, 2022, about 60 Cub Scouts and their families participated in an evening star gazing event at Camp Somers at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation. The event was the initial activity sponsored by Patriots Path Council Adventure Programs.

Tim Carroll served as the “astronomer” and provided a fun lecture on the night sky. Following his presentation everyone enjoyed a snack and then participants headed to the dam at Frenche’s Pond to view the sky through the telescopes. Unfortunately, the sky clouded up a bit and limited visibility. The group saw some stars, but the moon was generally obscured. Nevertheless, all the Scouts had fun and learned about the night sky.
