Scouts Hit the Snow at Black River Klondike

The final “Black River District” Klondike was held this past Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation, Camp Somers.

The event was rescheduled from the day before due to the anticipated snowstorm and statewide state of emergency declaration.

After a bitter cold and snowy Saturday, 370 Scouts and leaders from 23 troops came out to camp on Sunday on a beautiful sunny day with no wind chill to enjoy a full day of Scout spirit and competition.

Scouts tested their Scout skills at 12 different stations. Smiles abounded on the faces of Scouts at this highlight of the Scouting year.

Special thanks once again to co-chairs Larry Gersten and Howard Gordon for coordinating and planning another successful Black River Klondike Derby, as well as the leaders from the following units that ran stations:  Crew 17 and troops 36, 49, 53, 109, 111, 113, 166, 188, 236, 249 and 901.
