Sussex District Plans Activities in the Coming Months

The Sussex District of Patriots’ Path Council recently held some successful events, and it has more activities planned in the coming months:

  • The Sussex District Campfire was held the evening at August 15 at Council Point, Camp Somers. This free event attracted approximately 60 people: Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and adults. The weather was excellent and there were many fun songs and skits. The district hopes to make this an annual event.
  • Sussex District held two recruiting carnivals during the past 10 days. The first was at the Walmart in Hampton on August 21. The second was on August 26 at Camp Somers. Many units and district volunteers participated in these fun events. Cubs and Scouts BSA had fun with the various activities, and we developed over 40 new potential Scouts for the various packs and troops in the area. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this possible.
  • The Sussex District Day of Service occurred August 22. Troops and packs participated in a variety of local service projects. A total of nine units participated.
  • The joint Fishawack/Sussex Scouts BSA Camporee will be held at Camp Somers on Saturday, September 26. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this will be a daytime only event. We anticipate rifle, shotgun, archery, and COPE opportunities among other fun activities. While this event is daytime only, family camping will be available at no extra charge. Cost is $15 per person with registration opening soon.
  • In conjunction with the Fishawack/Sussex Scouts BSA Camporee, the Sussex District Cub Scout Camporee will be held at Camp Somers on Saturday, September 26. Cub packs are invited to enjoy archery, BB guns, boating, fishing, and other fun activities. COVID-19 restrictions will limit this event to a daytime only event, but family camping will be available at no extra charge. Cost will be $10 per person. Registration to open soon.
  • The Sussex District Merit Badge University will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 4, and Sunday afternoon, October 25. A variety of merit badges will be offered, with attendance required on both weekends to complete the merit badges.
