Black River Cub Scout Camporee

The 2019 Black River Spring Cub Scout Camporee was held at Camp Somers on the weekend of May 3-5.  Over 650 Cub Scouts, siblings and adult family members participated in this event.  Program activities included BB guns, archery, boating, fishing, backwoods engineering, a cooking station and a compass activity.  Highlights included a demonstration by the Byram Fire Department and a rescue dog demonstration by NJ Search and Rescue.  On Saturday evening over 380 participants had dinner together in the dining hall.  Due to rain, following dinner there was an indoor camp fire.  The Camporee was chaired by Pat Gallagher assisted by Trish Dannhardt, Ken Belli and many other volunteers in support.
