Philmont 2020 Crew Applications

Patriots’ Path Council is currently accepting applications for crews to attend Philmont Scout Ranch in 2020 as part of one of five contingents on a 15 day trip to Colorado and New Mexico.  The trip will include an action-packed two-day tour of the front range of the Colorado Rockies (Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Pike’s Peak, and whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River).  The trip culminates in an eleven day back trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM.  Contingent departures start in late June and end mid-July.  Applications are due by January 18, 2019 in order to be included in the council crew selection process on January 22nd.  The cost is estimated to be $2,300 per person and is all inclusive of airfare, Colorado tour, ground transportation (except to and from Newark Airport), hotels, meals, Philmont program fees, and the nationally recognized Watchu training program to help prepare your crew for Philmont.  Any questions email or call Andrew Joiner at (973) 765-9322 Ext 252.

Trunk or Treat 2018

Munsee District Troop 3 participated in the annual “Trunk or Treat” sponsored by the city of Perth Amboy. Over 350 youth dressed in various costumes enjoyed this fun activity. The youth were treated to pretzels and the opportunity to ring a ship’s bell that was part of a pirate ship display that “Rags” Buchner of Sea Scout Ship 228 brought with him. The event also served as an opportunity for youth to join Pack and Troop 3. Thanks also to Ken Mayti for his assistance in coordinating the unit’s participation in the event.

JerseyJam 2019 Registration Is Open…and Filling Quickly

Patriots’ Path Council has scheduled its JerseyJam 2019 – a jamboree for 5,000 Scouts, Explorers, Venturers and Sea Scouts – for the weekend of October 4-6, 2019, rain-or-shine – at Waterloo Village, a 70-acre National Historic District located in Byram Township, New Jersey.

JerseyJam 2019 is open from the outset to ALL units in the Northeast Region, and site reservations are currently being accepted at Attendance at JerseyJam is expected to reach capacity; as nearly 40 units representing 1,2000 Scouts and Scouters have already registered for the event, which is nearly a year away.

The JerseyJam program will be jam-packed with:

  • Outdoor Challenges, including Extreme Obstacle Course
  • High Adventure: Climbing Wall, Tomahawk/Knife Throwing, Archery, BB Gun Shooting and much more
  • Hands-on Pioneering and Backwoods Engineering Projects
  • Extensive Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) Exhibits and Activities
  • Fun Competitions: Tug of War, Human Foosball, GaGa Ball, Ultimate Frisbee
  • Military, Police, Fire and EMS Displays
  • Special Events, including Live Jump by the US Army’s Golden Knights Parachuting Team
  • Secure Overnight Camping for Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and Sea Scouts
  • Saturday Evening Arena Show/Live Entertainment

Patriots’ Path Council units can reserve their JerseyJam 2019 site right now online for only $100 at, without firm numbers of attendees. The $50 per person fee for Scouts and Scouters is due in July. Fall Cub Scout Recruitment Challenge

Recruit a friend into your pack and enter into a drawing to receive a free week at day camp or a set of camping equipment from the Scout Shop.

Launching Scouts BSA

William Bryant, a membership coach from the national office, will discuss how to start Scouts BSA troops and have them succeed.  This meeting is open to everyone interested in growing Patriots’ Path Council and this great movement.  We will meet at the council service center in Cedar Knolls on November 15th from 7:00-8:30 pm.  Please RSVP,, so we can be prepared with material and refreshments.

Camp Wheeler Fun Day

On Thursday, November 8th, just because you are home from school is no reason to stay home!  For boys & girls in grades K-5.  Parents are welcome to stay during their child’s session.  Parents of Kindergartners or First Graders must stay with them.  Choose between 9 am-noon or 1-4 pm.  Activities to include Archery, BB, Rock Wall climbing, Hot dogs over campfire, & more!  Free for anyone not yet in Cub Scouts or who joins Cub Scouts between August 1st to November 8th.  Current Cubs pay $7.50 or come for free if they bring a Cub Scout age friend who is not yet in Cub Scouts.  Register at

Raritan Valley First Responder Event

On Saturday November 3, 2018 over 100 Webelos Scouts had the opportunity to put the Scout motto “Be Prepared” into action by learning and practicing first aid skills at the Raritan Valley District First Responder Event held in Bound Brook. Webelos went to four stations meeting with a first responder, learning about CPR, fire safety, along with treatments for various first aid emergencies. A highlight of the day was a presentation from Officer Shannon Snook and her K-9 partner Basilone. Special thanks to Alana and Barry Bird for chairing the event and all the volunteers who came out to support the event

Registration is open for the Sussex Klondike

The Sussex District Klondike will be on the weekend of Jan. 25-27, 2019 at Camp Somers at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation.  Registration is $18.00 per person and includes dinner on Saturday evening.  Cabins are available and will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
