Raritan Valley District Holds Fall Boy Scout Camporee

The Raritan Valley District Fall Boy Scout Camporee took place over the weekend of September 28, 29 and 30 at Fort Hancock in the Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook, NJ. Fort Hancock is a former United States Army fort. The coastal artillery base defended the Atlantic coast and the entrance to New York Harbor, up thru World War I.

More than 150 Scouts were afforded the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including orienteering, a compass course, fishing, bike riding, Frisbee and beach volleyball. The Scouts were also able to communicate via shortwave radio with operators as far away as England, Italy and France.

Special thanks go to the South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club, Chris Struben, camporee chairman and all the volunteers who helped make this such a memorable event.

Family Scouting Invitations

Our Family packs have had good results in their first round of recruitment.  But it would be great to build up their dens.  There is nothing like a Scout asking their friend.  This invitation can be edited and printed by you or you can send us your specific information and quantity needed and the Patriots’ Path Council Membership Committee will print in color and provide invitation envelopes.

On-Going Recruitment

New members are always welcome!  If a boy or girl joins a pack late in the year, they can jump right in with what their den is doing and catch up on other requirements with Akela at home.  If your charter renewal has already been submitted, our registrar can still make additions as applications come in.
