PATRIOTS’ PATH COUNCIL WILL HOST FIRST-HAND ACCOUNT OF SUMMITING MOUNT EVEREST

Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council announced that on Sunday, October 14th, it will host a presentation by Dan Stringham, who earlier this year completed a 5-week expedition to reach the summit of Mt. Everest in Nepal. The peak of Mt. Everest is 29,035 feet above sea level; no other mountain on earth has a higher altitude.

Last May – after several months of training and conditioning – Dan Stringham and three companions survived one of the most dangerous and physically demanding challenges known to mankind: reaching the summit of Mt. Everest, where approximately 300 people have perished in pursuit of that goal. Dan Stringham, who serves as a member of the executive board of Patriots’ Path Council, is Vice President and Corporate Counsel at Prudential Financial. Dan, his father and two sons are all Eagle Scouts.

In this special presentation, which will feature photographs from his expedition, Dan will share:
o What motivated him to undertake this challenge
o The extensive preparations required to make this climb safely
o The physical and mental challenges he faced
o The climb’s “36-hour day” that’s necessary to reach the summit
o What it feels like to touch the top of the world
o The important life lessons he’s learned from the experience
Dan’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A and light refreshments. There is no charge for this one-time event. The general public is invited to attend, but advance registration is required. Attendance is limited, so please reserve seats as soon as possible, by registering online at http://ppcbsa.link/mteverest .

This event is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 14th, and will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 283 James Street, Morristown, NJ 07960. Proper attire, appropriate for a church setting, is requested.
