Metuchen Troop 14 Honored at Memorial Day Celebration

Boy Scout Troop 14 and their chartering organization, American Legion Fugle-Hummer Post #65 were honored at the Metuchen, NJ 91st annual Memorial Day parade. Among the dignitaries speaking at the ceremony were Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch who paid tribute to the long years of service that Troop 14 has given to the borough. Projects like park improvements, American flag placements on graves of American servicemen and women and numerous other civic projects were highlighted. Troop 14 senior patrol leader Nathan Witkowski spoke about how when he joined the troop there were only 6 members and how thru the efforts of the youth and leaders connected with the troop they are now up to 31 members.

Barriers to Abuse

SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

Summer is a good time to regroup and make plans and changes for the next Scouting year. We strongly urge that unit committees and leadership teams meet and review the NEW Barriers to Abuse (Pages 1-4, Guide to Safe Scouting) that will be published during June.  Along with the requirement for all Scouters to complete the new YPT training significant changes have been introduced into unit leadership requirements and operation.

How will your Scout unit Make Safety of Members Its First Priority?
