SAVE ON TUITION FOR SUMMER STEM INSTITUTE BY April 15th!

Register for a week of Summer STEM Institute for just under $300 before the price increases April 15!  The price of $299 includes registration, tee shirt, supplies, safety equipment, disposable lab coat and a weekly field trip.

Summer STEM Institute is an experience for the family.  Boys and girls entering grades 1-6 are welcome to attend the full day program!

Bus transportation is available each week from selected locations in Morris, Sussex, Union, Somerset and Middlesex counties. The bus route varies each week.  Bus transportation is an additional $60 per week.*

Pack 56 Roselle Park Blue and Gold

Pack 56, Roselle Park held their first Blue and Gold celebration. Ninety Scouts, Scouters, parents, other relatives and local dignitaries attended the celebration. Sponsored by the Roselle/Roselle Park Rotary club in July 2017 they are now 20 members strong. The Scouts received trophies for the pinewood derby and a case with which they could display their cars.

The highlight of the evening was the cake which was donated by a local bakery. When the cake order was placed, the baker was told that the cake was for their Blue and Gold Dinner. So, the baker colored the cake Blue and Gold with the word Dinner 2018 written in large letters on the cake.

Congratulations to all the Scouts, parents and volunteers for a job well done.

Official NMC Uniform Shirts Available for Trainee New Member Coordinators!

That’s right!  You can now purchase your official New Member Coordinator (NMC) polo uniform shirt.  The council is selling the shirts through the membership committee.

As it states in the NMC training, the official uniform shirt for the volunteer service in this position is the polo shirt.  This allows for a more friendly and open welcoming to families at a recruitment event.

Sustaining strong membership in a unit depends not only on having new members join the unit, but also on engaging youth and their families in the unit experiences so that they feel welcomed and want to stay. The role of the new member coordinator is to ensure that both keys to success take place.

National Youth Leadership Training

NYLT is the only council-wide youth training program that is not designed to be program specific.  NYLT is a rigorous youth leadership training program that provides skills for life and is designed to benefit and enhance the leadership teams of troops and Venture crews for both boys and girls.  It is fun, challenging and informative.  This year Patriots’ Path Council will offer 3 courses.

July course runs from July 1, 2018 at 8:00 am through July 7, 2018 at 11:00 am.

August course runs from August 12, 2018 at 8:00 am through August 18, 2018 at 11:00 am.

November course runs 2 weekends.  You MUST attend both sessions to be credited with completing the course.  November 9-11, 2018 and November 16-18, 2018.

Due to housing restrictions, the November course is limited to male registrants only.

 

Who may attend NYLT?

A registered Boy Scout who is 13 years of age or completed the 7th grade, but not older than 18 years of age that has obtained First Class.

A registered Venturer who is 14 years of age or completed the 8th grade, but not older than 21 years of age.

2018 Stars and Stripes Breakfast HONOR GUARD

Another active Scouting year is well under way and we are excited to announce that the 2nd Annual Stars and Stripes Breakfast will be taking place on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. This year’s keynote speaker is American Legend and New Jersey native Joe Theismann.

We are in need of Scouts to be part of our honor guard at The Ridge, Verizon’s Learning and Development Center, 300 N. Maple Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.

You must wear your full Field Uniform (Class A) with dress shoes and bring a parade size flag of the USA. Jeans are NOT acceptable. You will also need to be available the evening of Tuesday, May 1 for a rehearsal and arrive at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, May 2. Check in starts at 8:00 am     Opening Ceremony 8:30 am     Closing Ceremony 3:40 pm

Scouts will work on up to 4 elective adventures during four sessions, with one hour for lunch.  Almost all activities are rank specific but some are just for fun. Be sure to only choose one shooting sport event to give others a great opportunity as well!

 

This is an outdoor event held rain or shine, so dress appropriately.  Activities will be located throughout the camp.  Be prepared to get some exercise!  Each Scout must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times in camp.

 

Registration is $10.00 per Scout, plus materials fees for some activities

A hot dog, chips and beverage lunch can be pre-ordered for $4.00 each.

 

To register, go to the Council Calendar at ppcbsa.org and look at April 28, 2018. This event is open to registered Cub Scouts only.  Class size is limited.  First come, first served. Registration closes at on April 16th at midnight, or when we reach 350 participants.

CAMPING OPPORTUNITY

After a day of program, stay at camp! For just $8 per person, camp out overnight after the event on Saturday.

Your registration cost includes all camp fees and a continental breakfast Sunday morning. Your registration does NOT include dinner on Saturday night.

All registrations must include at least one adult. A youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if staying overnight.

2018 Camp Hall of Fame and Beefsteak Dinner

Join us on Saturday, July 21 at the Camp Somers Dining Hall at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation. This event will celebrate Bob Morris, Chris Szymczak, and George Van Dyke who represent over 100 years of camp service to Patriots’ Path Council. The beefsteak dinner following the celebration will raise funds for the Warren Wheeler Adventureship Fund. These funds become part of the council’s forever fund to send kids to camp, because we believe that every kid deserves a fun filled summer camp experience!
