Munsee Klondike Derby 2018 Recap

The annual Munsee Webelos and Boy Scout Klondikes took place on Saturday February 10, 2018 in the “Loop” area of the Watchung Reservation.

Under the leadership of Ed Novak and Dan Turano, 20 patrols from 10 packs totaling 109 Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts tested their Scouting skills in various areas including fire building and first aid among others. Upon completion of their competition, the Webelos were encouraged to check out the skill stations of the Boy Scouts.

Results of the Webelos Klondike:

1st Place – Pack 83 Kenilworth – Team Tortoise

2nd Place – Pack 163 Union – Spirit Chickens

3rd Place Tie – Pack 145 Clark – Rattlesnakes

3rd Place Tie – Pack 523 Colonia – Savage Nachos

3rd Place Tie – Pack 523 Colonia – Gamefish

The Boy Scout Klondike with Governor Pat Lewis and Lt. Governor Kurt Kamichoff welcomed over 175 Boy Scouts from 13 troops and 20 sleds who tested their knowledge and skills in First Aid, Knots, Cooking, Fire Building, Astronomy and Archery among others.. The top three finishers were:

1st T-83 Vikings

2nd T-83 CK Knome

3rd T-68 Rebel Alliance

The Best Sled award went to Troop 83 CK Knome patrol. The Greenhorn Patrol award went to T-63 Cobra #2
