SCOUT LEADER TRAINING FALL 2017 – SIGN UP NOW!

It’s not enough to DO YOUR BEST; you also have to know WHAT TO DO.  To make your Scouting job easier and more FUN, you need to get fully trained and BE PREPARED for the coming year and beyond.  Patriots’ Path Council has a complete slate of training courses coming up in the fall, for all levels of Scout leadership.  These are offered on multiple dates at venues throughout the council.  For full details and registration go to https://ppcbsa.org/committees/training/

FOR CUB SCOUT LEADERS, we offer:

  • Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training (Sept. 16, 23, 28; Oct. 10, 21; Nov. 15; Dec. 2 at the University of Scouting). This 3-hour training course has concurrent sessions for:
  1. Cubmasters/Assistant Cubmasters
  2. Den Leaders/Assistant Den Leaders of Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos, & Arrow of Light Scouts
  3. Pack Committee Chairs and Committee Members
  • BALOO Training (Sept 9, 16, 23, 30; Oct 1, 7). This day-long training course prepares pack adults to assist in setting up and running pack overnighters.   NOTE:  In order for a pack to conduct an overnighter, at least one adult attending the overnighter MUST be BALOO trained.  It is recommended that at least two people in a pack take the training, to assure there will be a BALOO-trained adult available when an overnighter is being planned.
  • Outdoor Webelos Leader Skills Training [OWLS]. (Oct. 6-8; Oct. 20-22) This weekend course runs from Friday at 6:00 to Sunday at 2:30.  It is designed to provide Webelos leaders with the practical outdoor skills they need to lead their Scouts in the out-of-doors.  Note: Webelos/AOL leaders who take this training will be credited with taking the Boy Scout leader IOLS course, also.

FOR BOY SCOUT LEADERS, we offer:

  • Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (Sept 16, 23; Nov. 4). This is a 4-½ hour course in the basics of the Boy Scout program.  Register early; these courses fill up quickly.
  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills [IOLS] (Oct. 6-8; Oct. 20-22). This weekend course runs from Friday at 6:00 to Sunday at 2:30.  It is designed to provide Scout leaders with practical outdoor skills they need to lead their Scouts in the out-of-doors, and also provides direct experience with the patrol method.  Register early; these courses fill up quickly.

FOR BOY SCOUTS WHO ARE OR WILL BE DEN CHIEFS, we offer:

  • Den Chief Training (Aug. 27; Sept. date TBD; Nov. 4 at the Merit Badge Workshop; Dec. 2 at the University of Scouting). This 3-hour course prepares a Scout to do a better job in assisting a den leader with his/her den of Cub Scouts.

FOR ALL SCOUT LEADERS AND SCOUTS, we also offer:

  • Woodsman’s Thong [Oct. 28 (7am)–Oct. 29 (1pm)] Advanced outdoor skills for adult leaders, and also for Scouts at least 13-years-old and Star rank.
  • University of Scouting (Dec. 2, 8:30-3:30) Over 100 courses covering many aspects of Boy Scouting, Cub Scouting, and Venturing for adult leaders and also for Scouts and Venturers who are, or will be, leaders.  [Full info and registration will be available on-line after September 1.]
