Crew 17 from Denville, NJ wins Patriots’ Path Council’s Recruitment Challenge.  Patriots’ Path Council challenged all of its crews, posts, and ships to recruit the largest amount of new members to their unit. The winner would receive an Amazon gift card for the unit or for their top recruiter. Crew 17 was able to recruit 10 new members to their crew in the short amount of time, more than doubling the size of the crew from 9 to 19 members. Crew 17 is themed as an outdoor crew with high adventure goals, they will be heading to Philmont, a national Boy Scout camp in New Mexico, next June for two weeks.

Crew 17 credits it members for its success in the challenge, led by the crew’s president Sumantra Chattopadhyay, to the great communication effort using Google forms to announce their trips to other members from high schools around Morris County. The crew invited guests on their activities, and encouraged those who came to join the crew after.

Crew 17 makes a great effort to keep every member involved in every meeting and activity. Understanding that some members live far away, members have the option to Facetime into the meetings and participate. The crew has run several team builders and meetings this way.
