Advancement is a key indicator of a successful unit program. Learn how to best assist your Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venturers by increasing your knowledge of BSA’s policies and procedures governing advancement.

This conference, designed for district and council-level volunteers and professional Scouters will:

  • Connect participants to the essentials of advancement
  • Steer them towards a wealth of advancement resources available on scouting.org
  • Engage them through group discussions on effective ways of resolving all types of advancement issues and challenges

Our conference facilitators will be Scott Berger and Dan Maxfield who are members of the National BSA Advancement Committee.

Scott Berger – Patriots’ Path Council Executive Board member Scott Berger has served as a council vice-president, district advancement chair and commissioner. He currently serves on the National Boy Scout Committee as chairman of the merit badge maintenance task force, and on the National Program Development Committee. Scott leads the Northeast Region’s Advancement Committee as it’s chairman.

Dan Maxfield – Dan has served locally as the commissioner and a vice president on his council board for many years. On the national level he was a member of the advancement committee for 20 years, has served on the commissioner support staff for the past six years, and is a member of the Boy Scout sub committee.
