PPC Executive Board Member Jeff Deisher has agreed to be the next director for our Sabattis Adventure Camp. Jeff is an avid outdoorsman, loves the Adirondacks and has served as chairman of our properties and camping committees.
Let’s all support Jeff as he recruits the summer staff and is engaged in bringing more troops/crews to the Adirondack camp experience!
If you are looking for a project for your Scouts to do in a den or pack meeting, consider assembling Flintlocks Craft Kits. These kits provide a great opportunity for the Scouts to follow directions, work with a few simple hand tools and build a useful, functional and attractive wood project such as a bird houses, handy boxes, handy benches, etc.
Examples of assembled items and a full list of the craft kits are in stock and available for purchase in our Cedar Knolls and Mountainside Scout Shops.
Flintlocks is a group of retired & semi-retired men who volunteer their time, talents and skills to support the Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council. They meet every Thursday at the Flintlocks building at Winnebago Scout Reservation where they produce the kits and have a complete wood working shop. Their time is devoted to maintaining, constructing and improving the facilities of the Scout camps owned and operated by the Patriots’ Path Council. As they say, the Flintlocks build everything from buildings to birdhouses.
All the revenue derived from the kit sales is used to purchase construction materials to maintain the camps. 100% of the revenue from Flintlock Craft Kit sales is retained for use within the Patriots’ Path Council.
The Flintlocks is a 501 c 3 non-profit charitable organization and if you are interested in joining this volunteer group, please contact Bob Pysher (908) 578-8860 or by e-mail at RPYSH@Verizon.net.
If you want more information about the Craft Kits our representatives at the Scout Shops are knowledgeable and will be glad to assist you
Part of BSA’s council performance recognition program, this award represents excellence (the highest performance standard) at the unit level.
December 15th is the deadline for getting a registration DISCOUNT for the BSA contingent to the 15th World Scout Moot in Iceland in summer 2017!
What’s a “Moot”? A Scout Moot is an international gathering of Scouts aged 18 – 25. In the BSA, this applies to young Boy Scout leaders, as well as Venturers and leaders in that age range. (Adults over the age of 25 can apply for the International Service Team [aka “IST”].) The overall BSA goal is to send a contingent of 50 youth participants and 25 adult IST members.
The World Scout Moot is a WOSM program, and as a WOSM member (and one of the hosts of the next World Scout Jamboree), we want to actively participate in the Moot. However, the Moot does conflict with the 2017 National BSA Jamboree, so please make your plans accordingly.
To register, or get more information on this Moot, contact anyone of these three and attached:
