2017 WORLD SCOUT MOOT!

The BSA is sending a contingent to the 15th World Scout Moot in Iceland, summer 2017.

What’s a “Moot”?  A Scout Moot is an international gathering of Scouts/Venturers age 18 – 25.  In many countries, this is the “Rover” age of Scouts.  In the BSA, it applies to young Boy Scout leaders (i.e., ASMs), as well as Venturers and leaders in that age range.  (Adults over the age of 25 can apply for the International Service Team [“IST” for short]).  Our goal is to send a contingent of 50 participants and 25 IST members.

This 2017 Moot promises to be a very exciting program!  It has two parts – a four-day expedition with Scouts from other countries, and four days of international exchange, dialogue and activities at the “Althingi”–an ancient Icelandic gathering of people.

Iceland is a beautiful place and Scouts Iceland has done a great job preparing for it.  Check out their website at www.worldscoutmoot.is for more information and stunning images of the country.

Go here –> www.tinyurl.com/wsm17form –> so that you can receive registration information.

(Yes, the BSA National Jamboree happens around the same time. But this is a different age-group, so if you fit, be sure to check it out!)

Attention All Cub Scout Leaders!

Fall is almost here and, with it, come our wonderful Cub Family Camporees and Cubelos events!

If your pack is planning to go family camping, either at one of these or on your own, you MUST  HAVE at least one BALOO-trained adult to assure the trip is adequately planned, and allow your participation to be officially approved by the BSA.

DOES YOUR PACK HAVE SOMEONE WHO HAS TAKEN BALOO TRAINING?  (It’s actually a good idea to have more than one person with this training…just in case!)

If you need to get someone into a BALOO course, this is your lucky day!  Patriots’ Path Council is offering not one….not two….but SIX courses this fall!   Go to the council website at PPCBSA.org, click on “Program,” then on “Training” in the drop down menu.  You’ll find all the BALOO courses listed under the Cub Training tab.

These courses often fill up, so get your registration in NOW!!

Make sure your pack can REALLY put the OUTING in SCOUTING!
