2016 POPCORN SALE UPDATE – 6/22/16

ARE YOU ON TRACK FOR A GREAT SALE?  FOLLOW THIS UNIT KERNAL CHECKLIST!

Attend and participate in the Popcorn Sales Training. (See dates and registration link below).

With your committee, set a sales goal for your unit and for each Scout.

  • Most important step a unit can do. Base the goal on your actual budget needs.
  • Formulate a popcorn sales plan that includes the 3 methods of selling popcorn: Take Order Form, Show & Sell and Online.
  • Create a timeline of when all order forms, popcorn money and Scout prize forms will be due. Be sure to consider the key sales dates.

 

Conduct a “fun-filled” kick-off event for Scout families.

  • Emphasize what the Scouts will receive for hitting their goal.
  • Provide a letter to the parents that clearly spells out:
    • The purpose of the sale, funding an upcoming year of Scouting.
    • Support and additional rewards available to the Scout.
    • Important deadlines.

 

Encourage ALL your Scouts to go out and sell! 67% of people will buy when asked and less than 30% of the public is asked.

  • Sell to friends, family members, neighbors, etc.
  • Take the “Take Order form” to work.
  • Set up an organized “Blitz Day” at the beginning of the sale to help give your Scouts a good start to their sale.

 

Orders are paperless!

  • Total the Scouts’ orders into a unit order and submit online.
  • Prizes are also ordered online.
  • Most supplemental prizes can be submitted online by parents.

 

Coordinate your unit’s popcorn pick-up and distribution.

  • Bring enough vehicles to accommodate your order. Approximate vehicle capacity (without passenger): Mid-Size Car= 30 cases, Van= 50 cases, Full size pick-up truck= 60 cases

 

Collect money from your Scouts and pay your invoice by November 19th.

  • Make unit check for “Amount Due Council” payable to Patriots’ Path Council, BSA. Write your district name on the check.

 

Distribute prizes upon receipt in a timely manner.

 

Celebrate your unit’s success!

 

GET READY FOR SHOW AND SELL SALES

You order full cases of popcorn by August 1, and pick up your order on August 20th.  (The 50% payment on your order isn’t due until October 12th.)  All sales count toward your commission. Any leftover popcorn can be used to fill your Take Order Sale needs. Note: Chocolate Popcorn is not available for Show & Sell.
