Build an Adventure: Blast off into Cub Scouting

A Cub Scout recruiting program.

Fishing Gear is Needed!

Fishing Gear is Needed!

Patriots’ Path Council is seeking the donation of new or lightly used fishing rods and reels for use both with the Hooked on Scouting Cub Scout Recruiting campaign and to enhance other fishing program opportunities.  We are not at all interested in the bamboo – string and stick type rigs.  Donations of material or cash are appreciated.  The fishing gear is needed by April 10, 2016.

Please notify Art Lobdell to make arrangements to get the material from you.  Gear can also be dropped at our council service center or our camps.  Please make sure it is marked – “Hooked on Scouting”

Community Alliances: Recreation and Parks Departments

The Patriots’ Path Council is seeking to be in deeper relationships with municipal and county recreation and parks departments.

During February, PPC staff attended the State of New Jersey Parks and Recreation Conference.  Many of the goals of the Boy Scouts are closely aligned with recreation and parks departments.  We made several new friends and hope to be able to increase both Scouting presence at their facilities and also invite more youth to be part of Scouting.

Additionally a new Cub Scout pack was formed in Linden to be housed with the Linden Recreation Department. If you have any local contacts please forward those to Art Lobdell, Field Director

Every child should be given an opportunity to take part in STEM programs. The Summer STEM Institute (SSI) Scholarship program has been established so that families have the opportunity to receive financial assistance when needed.

Bill SanFilippo, staff advisor to SSI, will be running in the Novo Nordisk New Jersey Marathon on the morning of Sunday, May 1, 2016.

This year, Bill is running to raise money for the Summer STEM Institute scholarship program to provide funds to children who need financial assistance in order to attend the program. Please consider supporting Bill and making a donation.

For more information visit or contact Bill SanFilippo at
