Edison Memorial Tower

You could consider Thomas Alva Edison was the original “Mr. STEM”

The Boy Scouts of America have participated at the laboratory of “The Wizard of Menlo Park” since 1927.

The Edison Memorial Tower was dedicated in 1938 and Boy Scouts were there.

On October 24, 2015 they are “relighting” the Edison Memorial Tower and would really like to have Scouts assist with the opening ceremonies.

Email your desire to participate directly to Mary Lynn Solomon, mlsolomon@gmail.com

Earlier Deadline for NESA Scholarships

With an all-time high of $645,000 in Eagle Scout scholarships awarded last year, NESA’s scholarship program keeps getting better and better. This year will be no exception as the National Eagle Scout Association plans to increase the minimum value of scholarships to $5,000 from $1,000 and allow students at vocational trade schools to apply. Also new: Scholarship recipients will be required to give back to Scouting by volunteering.

There’s one other big change, and NESA needs your help communicating it to the Eagle Scouts in your life. Beginning this year, applications are due by Oct. 31 (rather than by Dec. 31). Scholarships are open to NESA members through their junior year of college. Learn more and find application instructions at nesa.org.
