Build a House with Habitat for Humanity

STEM is not the only thing coming to the Liberty Jamboree.  Skill trades will also be a key ingredient to this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, local union workers, Scouting members, and other companies came together to plan for a house building project, on site, at the Jamboree.

Scouts will sign up in advance to join a team of fellow Scouts for a 30 minute work session at the Jamboree.  In the 30 minute sessions, Scouts will go through a safety workshop and a building set that will ultimately lead to the creation of a house.  The house build by Scouts will be featured at Saturday’s evenings show and then moved to northern New Jersey where a family will reside in it.

Jamboree activities will include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics), kayaking, buckskin games, climbing walls, backwoods engineering activities, monkey bridge, slack rope obstacle course, robotics, skill trades, target paintball, arena show, outdoor challenges, high adventure, and live entertainment.

SO, ARE YOU IN?  Registration is now open for Patriots’ Path Council units.  We have allocated 1,000 early reservation participant slots for out-of-council units.  Once the 1,000 out-of-council slots are filled, units will be placed on a wait list. You can submit a “Save a Site” reservation with your deposit now, and confirm with full payment by June 15, 2015.   In the event that there are no remaining slots the Jamboree Committee will return the $100 deposit.  Out-of-council reservations are on a first come, first served basis. The wait listed units will be notified of available slots in late June.

The 2015 Munsee District Pinewood Derby will be hosted by Cub Scout Pack 30, chartered by St. John the Apostle Church in Clark, which has kindly allowed the use of their track and church hall for the event.  The 2015 District Derby will be held at the church at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING (NYLT)

NYLT is a rigorous youth leadership training program that provides skills for life and is designed to benefit and enhance the leadership teams of troops and Venture crews. It is FUN, challenging and informative. Upon completion each participant will receive a certificate of this nationally recognized program.

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO. The key elements are taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the participants go on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership. NYLT is a seven-day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun, guiding environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids which allow participants to understand and employ this “Tool Box” of leadership skills much faster.

Patriots’ Path Council offers two NYLT 2015 programs.  Sunday, June 28, 2015 to Saturday, July 4, 2015 and Sunday, August 9, 2015 to Saturday, August 15, 2015.  The regular registration price is $280.00.  The early bird fee is $265 by May 1st for the June course and by June 1st for the August course. The late fee is $310.00 as of June 1st for June course and as of July 10th for August course.
