Cub Scout Advancement Program is Being Totally Changed! Are You Ready and Prepared?

In September of 2015 there will be a new program for Cub Scouts.  All of the Cub Scout handbooks will be changed.  There will be new leader handbooks for each level of Cub Scouting.  (There will be an option for boys who will be in the 5th grade in September to continue with the current program or switch over to the new program.)

There will be a session for all Cub Scout leaders (den leaders, Tiger leaders, Webelos leaders, Cubmasters as well as assistants) and anyone else interested in learning about the new program (including Boy Scout leaders) in a deep dive session to be held on January 17th starting at 12:30 PM at the Cedar Knolls Service Center in conjunction with the Membership Summit.  Register today at http://ppbsa.doubleknot.com/event/1351688.

If you are unable to attend the in person session, there is a webinar earlier in the day. The in person session will be better as a nationally trained representative will be on hand to answer all your questions.

The council membership committee will unveil its latest projects and take input from all attendees’ best practices and suggestions to amend existing recommended plans and procedures related to membership growth.  Share what your unit is doing that works.  Come to learn new things that you can do to get more youth into your program.

December Photo of the Month

Thanks for your support of our 8th Annual Council Blood Drive. We have one final drive in Atlantic County on 12/29 run by  LEDR Alumni.

Thus far we have collected  130 viable pints – helping 390 people in need already.

Our goal for Atlantic County is to collect another 20 pints, so we’ll be at 150…our 2nd highest annual total ever! Plus we are pushing over 800 pints. We are making a ‘life-saving’ difference in the lives of about 450 people.

Special thanks to Venture Crew 77, Madison, Youth Executive Committee, Venture Crew 75, Crew and Post 368, Pack and Troops in Long Valley, and  LEDR Alumni Member Niki Traa who supported each location.

January Webcasts on the New Cub Scouting Program

As you know, a new Cub Scouting program is launching June 1, 2015 that will be more fun and exciting for boys, and easier to implement for unit leaders. If you are unable to attend the live session conducted at Patriots’ Path Council on 1/17/15 starting at 12:30 PM you may want to participate in the following webcast opportunities. The in person session will be an interactive orientation with volunteers who have participated in the ongoing development and roll-out of the new Cub Adventure program.  Dr Nisha Zoeller has participated in a week-long study of the new program and has also contributed edits and enhancements to its development.

To ensure units are ready to make the transition, a series of webcasts will be hosted in January. The webcasts will outline the coming changes, how to prepare, and when resources will be available.
