Woodsman’s Thong

It is time again for the course no one else offers. This course, developed by Scouters from our Council, is designed to increase your knowledge of the outdoors and the skills you need to keep your outdoor program exciting.

Registration is open to youth that are 13 years old and Star rank, Venturers, and to registered adult leaders. Space is limited so sign up online as soon as possible. A letter of acceptance and a list of equipment required will be sent when your registration payment is received. An adult registered with their unit must accompany youth from a unit.

Annual Health and Medical Record Parts A & B are required for this course!

The Pirates of Munsee at Fall Cubelos will be held on October 25 and 26, 2014 at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope NJ. The price is $15.00 per person and there are two mandatory meetings that must be attended by a pack liaison. August 26th at 7:30 pm and September 23rd at 7:30 pm, both are held at 430 Westfield Ave in Clark NJ 07066 in the cafeteria. For more information you can visit the registration site at:

Has Your Unit Reserved Their Site Yet?!

Registration to “save a site” for the 2015 Liberty Jamboree is now open!  This once in a lifetime event overlooking the NYC skyline will be held on October 2-4, 2015.  Site reservations and registrations will be offered to Patriots’ Path Council units first.  Out of council units may submit a “save a site” reservation at any time. There are 1,000 slots available for out of council units.  On April 15, 2015 each out of council unit on the waiting list will be contacted stating how many slots they will receive to attend the Liberty Jamboree.  In the event that there are no remaining slots the Jamboree Committee will return the $100 deposit. Again, this is on a first come, first served basis.

APPLY TODAY: Join the Staff of the 2015 Liberty Jamboree!

The Patriots’ Path Council will host a Jamboree for 5,000 Scouts on October 2-4, 2015 at the one and only Liberty State Park.  That’s right!  We will be tenting with the view of lower Manhattan, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty!  An event like this requires a large number of dedicated volunteers to be successful.  We need staff to help with promotions, communications, finance, program, logistics, and much more!

To join the staff, please fill out the staff application.  Once your application is received it will be reviewed and sent to the respective Jamboree vice chairman.  They will then contact you.  Our first general staff meeting will be held on September 23rd at the council service center in Cedar Knolls.  The meeting will be from 8 am- 9 pm

MULTI DISTRICT FALL BOY SCOUT/ VENTURER CAMPOREE

    • Join us October 10-12, 2014 for the “Patriot Games” at Round Valley Reservoir in Lebanon, NJ
    • Highlights include: Staff and SPL Hunt Friday night, Merit Badge Primers / STEM activities Saturday AM, Campwide competitions in the afternoon – Where the Odds are Always in YOUR FAVOR! Patrol/Crew Competitions will be selected by chance! A Turks Head Neckerchief Slide making station, Best Tasting Desert Competition – Dutch Oven style, Camp Gadget Competition, CampFIR, Awesome prizes!
    • Don’t forget to invite your Webelos II Arrow of Lighters and their parents! We will be having Webelos activities on Saturday am and they will go around with the patrols on Saturday afternoon.

NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife – NJ WILD Outdoor Expo

The New Jersey WILD Outdoor Expo celebrates the state’s bountiful natural resources and rich outdoor heritage. The event is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson Township, Ocean County. The 2014 dates are September 13 and 14. The Expo is an annual event which is free of charge and takes place rain or shine.

The WILD Outdoor Expo is hosted by the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife, Division of Parks and Forestry, the State Forestry Services and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. The event also has several sponsors, and exhibitors and vendors from the field of outdoor recreation will be on site. Food vendors will also participate; you are welcome to bring and enjoy your own in the picnic tent. Please leave pets at home – only dogs participating in events and service dogs are permitted on the grounds.

The Expo helps people connect with the natural world by providing a unique blend of conservation information, education and hands-on opportunities to learn outdoor skills and activities. Numerous environmental and conservation exhibits, demonstrations and seminars are planned for the weekend. Visitors can learn about, and try, a wide array of activities including fishing, hiking, shooting sports, kayaking, camping skills, rock climbing, wildlife watching and much more.

If you answered yes to any of the above, come to the Venturing Introduction to Leadership Skills Course!

The purpose of the Venturing Introduction to Leadership Skills Course is to teach crew members with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. It is intended to help Venturers in leadership positions within their crew understand their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities. Venturing Introduction to Leadership Skills Course is the first course in the series of leadership training offered to Venturers.

Participants will have the chance to participate in team building activities, learn about the Venturing program, learn how a crew functions, learn leadership skills, learn the EDGE method, and much more.

Completion of Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews is a prerequisite for Venturers to participate in the more advanced leadership courses National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE). It is also required for Kodiak.

Liberty State Park Service Project Program

As part of the 2015 Liberty Jamboree, Patriots’ Path Council has developed a program of service projects in Liberty State Park to benefit the park, Scouts and units attending the Jamboree.

Each Day of Service is designed as a project for approximately 50 Scouts and adult leaders, with work beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 2:00 PM.

The scheduled Days of Service are:

Benefits for each Scout and unit participating in a Day of Service:

  • Each youth and adult Scouter who provides a Day of Service will receive a patch/rocker to recognize their Day of Service.
  • Each youth Scout who provides a Day of Service will receive a speed pass good for one high adventure activity at the 2015 Liberty Jamboree.
  • For each group of 8 youth Scouts who provide a Day of Service, the unit will receive 1 complimentary parking pass at the 2015 Liberty Jamboree.
  • Youth and adult Scouters and their units who provide a Day of Service will be recognized at the Saturday evening extravaganza at the 2015 Liberty Jamboree.

Day of Service is defined by the council as serving for the duration of the scheduled service day.  Units must provide their own transportation and two-deep leadership.  Units are required to complete a tour and activity plan to participate via www.myscouting.org, available under your “unit tools”.
