Flag Day Festival

The first annual Flag Day Festival will be held in Duke Island Park (Bridgewater) on June 14.

This is a celebration of America at its best with food, music, and exhibits that will honor local patriots, as well as students who win the Flag Art and Essay contests.

We are recruiting local talent to perform patriotic songs, dances and music. There will be a costume contest for the best patriotic costumes (like Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty) with lots of prizes.

The Student Essay (What Our Flag Means to Me) and the Student Flag Art contests are now underway, and end on May 10, 2014.
All New Jersey students grades 2-12 are eligible for the contests.

Troop and Pack Leaders – Scout family participation will be the primary driver of this event. Build your unit’s Flag Day Celebration around Flag Day Festival, or start a new tradition.

-Distribute the flyer to your unit electronically and put it on your web site.

-Promote the student contests at your unit meetings – entries are due May 10, 2014.

-Suggest that the Scouts bring the flyers into school and request participation of their English or Art teachers.
