“Prepare Yourself for Boy Scouts”
Great fun and learning for Webelos! It will also serve as an awesome experience for parents and leaders transitioning from Cub Scouting to Boy Scout Troop camping and high adventure.

For: Cub Scout leaders, Webelos leaders, Boy Scout leaders, unit commissioners, district committee members and all those interested in growing youth involvement in Scouting.
When: Several opportunities during April.
Where: Every district.
District and council membership committees will present the latest resources and techniques on how to get more and more youth and adults in your local unit.
Training sessions primarily for Cub Scout leaders and those others interested in increase enrollment in Scouting. Learn about the latest resources and techniques. You are invited to attend any session that fits with your schedule.
April 23, 7 pm
This is a great resource session for perfecting and learning new recruitment strategies for your unit and the district.
April 24, 7 pm
A Popcorn Kernel or other representative from each unit should plan on attending this information session.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (Cub Scout BALOO)
May 10, 9 am
Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a pack overnighter. Please note that more than one pack leader should take this training to avoid last minute changes if only one leader is BALOO trained.

Come sample 4 pairings of wings and beer at VFW Post 335 in Cranford, NJ. Brews are provided by Climax, the oldest microbrewery in NJ. Wings provided by The Office, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Cozy Corner Deli & Caterers.

Victory Trail Hike, Walking Tour & Camporee
June 6 to June 8
Join us for an Historic Trail Hike or Walking Tour on Saturday, and overnight camping for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at either Liberty Hall or Watchung Scout Reservation.
The first annual Flag Day Festival will be held in Duke Island Park (Bridgewater) on June 14.
This is a celebration of America at its best with food, music, and exhibits that will honor local patriots, as well as students who win the Flag Art and Essay contests.
We are recruiting local talent to perform patriotic songs, dances and music. There will be a costume contest for the best patriotic costumes (like Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty) with lots of prizes.
The Student Essay (What Our Flag Means to Me) and the Student Flag Art contests are now underway, and end on May 10, 2014.
All New Jersey students grades 2-12 are eligible for the contests.
Troop and Pack Leaders – Scout family participation will be the primary driver of this event. Build your unit’s Flag Day Celebration around Flag Day Festival, or start a new tradition.
-Distribute the flyer to your unit electronically and put it on your web site.
-Promote the student contests at your unit meetings – entries are due May 10, 2014.
-Suggest that the Scouts bring the flyers into school and request participation of their English or Art teachers.

This is a family camp out for Scouts, siblings, parents and guardians held at Winnebago Scout Reservation. Cost is $18 for all attendees.
We encourage all adults attending to have current Youth Protection training.
Theme: “The Great American Pastime”
Co-Sponsored by the Somerset Patriots Baseball Team
Every pack may show spirit by decorating their camp site based on the theme and a prize will be awarded to the pack with the most theme spirit.
Events: Archery, BB Guns, Boating, Craft, Cub Cars, Field Games, Fishing Derby, Historic Nature Hike, Rock Wall Climbing, Scavenger Hunt
LUNCH AND BOATING IS INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE
All packs should be prepared to deliver a skit or song for the campfire on Saturday night.
Camp policy requires rosters at check in. Be sure individuals checking in have 3 copies of the roster.

Join us May 16-18th at the Winnebago Scout Reservation for the WM Spring Cub Family Camporee. This camporee we will give a salute to our U.S. Armed Forces by recognizing their service at home and abroad. There will be demonstrators who will share some U.S. military history and show how our country’s military is being utilized in present day.

Den Chief Training is being presented on Saturday, May 3 in Berkeley Heights; sign up at http://ppbsa.doubleknot.com/event/1498105 All Scouts who have been or may be selected to serve as den chiefs need to take this class, as they must be trained before they work with a den and pack.
