Upon successful completion of the course, your American Red Cross certification will be good for two years!  Advance registration is required; see our sign up flyer.

This training is required for some tour plans as well as rank advancement.  Hope you can join us.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Youth Protection training is required for all registered volunteers.

New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before they submit an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.

Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If the volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

How do I complete Youth Protection training?

The training can be completed online and a certificate of completion should be printed at the end of the session.

To take the training,  log into MyScouting.org and create an account. From the MyScouting portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training.

Upon completion, print a certificate and submit it with an adult application to the unit leader for processing at the local council.

Why must I print the certificate? Can’t my record be updated electronically?

Yes it can but ONLY if your member ID number has been entered in the demographic tab when creating your MyScouting account. Your account is personal and password protected. The ID number is the only link to your Scouting registration associated with the Patriots’ Path Council.

I am a new leader and do not have an ID number, how do I get credit for the training I completed online?

It is imperative that you print your Youth Protection training certificate at the end of the training session. It must accompany your complete adult application when submitted to register with BSA. At registration, the training is logged into your newly created record and membership ID number.

I see that other training is available through the E-Learning portal; would these trainings be entered into my record?

Again, only if the membership ID number has been entered into the MyScouting account information.

New leaders must access their MyScouting account once they are registered and have received their membership card from the unit leader. Otherwise, all trainings remain recorded in the MyScouting account with no link to the BSA registration record of the individual.

I am not a new leader but I do not know my membership ID number. How can I obtain it?

After a charter is activated for the year, membership cards and a unit roster is forwarded to the unit. The card will have your ID# and the number is also listed on the roster. Please contact your unit leader or committee chair to obtain your number.

I have taken training but have been contacted that it is the wrong one. Why?

There are two Youth Protection training courses that are available for adults registered in traditional Scouting units.

Y01 – Youth Protection Training is for leaders active in Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops.

Y02-Ventruing Youth Protection Training is for leaders active in Venture crews and ships. While the information is similar, the two trainings are not interchangeable. A leader registered in both types of units must complete both versions of Youth Protection training.

2014 Recharter Question & Answer Sessions and Charter Turn-in

To assist units with the 2014 Charter Renewal process, each district has set up times and locations when volunteer staff will be on hand to answer questions and accept the charter paperwork and payment for the 2014 charter year.

Of course, the charter may be brought to our new council service center located at 1 Saddle Road, Cedar Knolls , NJ.

Adult Position Changes for 2014 Recharter Process

ScoutParent (PS)  designation expired as of 7/1/2013 and has been removed from the position selection pick list in Internet Rechartering.

“Adults without Assigned Position Report” has been added to the Unit Charter Renewal Report Package DRAFT VERSION. This will only appear in the draft view of the report if there are one or more adults assigned to the ScoutParent position. This report will not appear when the unit charter renewal is submitted because a unit cannot be submitted with adults with unassigned positions.

Check Roster validation will display an error for any former ScoutParent (PS) who was selected for renewal but whose position was not changed to a valid adult leader position. Processors will have the option to assign a new position or to remove the adult from the unit renewal. Note: these individuals are new adult registrants and therefore completed adult leader applications must be submitted with the charter renewal report. Any new adult leader designation is a fee paying position.

Parent Coordinator (PC) is the renamed position for the ScoutParent Unit Coordinator and is a fee paying position.
