Are you ready for some football?

If you have a son in Cub Scouts between the ages of 6-11 and you love football what a great opportunity we have in store for you.  Sign up for the January 18, 2014 Liberty Science Center Camp-In and experience an exhibit called “Gridiron Glory” The Best of the Football Hall of Fame.  It will feature a “local heroes” section showcasing the Giants and Jets.  Entrance is free with your reservation.  Contact Linda Mickel at for more information.  Siblings ages 6-11 also welcome.

Boy Scout Klondike Derby at Watchung Reservation!

Join us for the Boy Scout Klondike Derby sponsored by the Watchung Mountain District.  This event is open to all Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews and is a competition of skills and speed.  Prizes are awarded to the winning sleds.   The event will be held on Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Watchung Reservation in Mountainside. Watchung Mountain Webelos Klondike Trek!

New improvements coming to the Klondike Trek for Webelos in the Watchung Mountain District.  The committee is planning new stations and more fun!  The event will be held on Saturday January 25, 2014.  The event is open to Webelos 1 and Arrow of Light Scouts.  Start preparing now.  For station suggestions, to volunteer, or general questions, contact event chair Charlie Rose at

New Date- Watchung Mountain District Annual Meeting & Recognition Dinner

The Watchung Mountain District Operating Committee has decided to combine the District Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner.  The new, combined event will be held on January 16, 2014.  Awards and recognition for adult volunteers will be presented including the District Award of Merit.  The event will be held at Snuffy’s Pantagis Renaissance in Scotch Plains.  Cocktail hour will begin at 6:30 pm and dinner and program at 7:30 pm. Save the Date- all are welcome! More details to follow.

Fishoree 2014

For all Scouts with special needs in Patriots’ Path Council.  Special needs schools and programs are welcome!

The event will take place on May 15, 2014 from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation.

Space is still available in many classes being offered at the Patriots’ Path Council 2013 Merit Badge Workshop, sponsored by the advancement committee, on Saturday, November 23 from 8:45 AM to 1 PM in Parsippany.

In  one or two hour sessions, each Scout will get an introduction to the MB subject matter, and, in many cases complete one or more requirements with follow up to be scheduled for completing the badge.

New this year: Eagle Project Management 1 hour course taught by members of the Project Management Institute. Space is still available also for Den Chief Training (3 hours), and a 1 hour introductory Trail to Eagle class.  No additional charge for these 3 classes beyond the registration fee.

An informative free Q & A session is also available to parents.
