Community Service response to Hurricane Sandy
Scoutmasters, Cubmasters and Advisors,
Many of our packs, troops, posts and crews have already found ways to help others during the response to Hurricane Sandy.
If your unit wants to be part of an organized response, the Patriots’ Path Council Community Service Committee recommends contacting your local Office of Emergency Management.
Morris County has a website which links to a coordinator in each town: http://morrisoem.org/oemtowns.asp
Sussex County also has a website which lists the coordinator for each town: http://www.sussexcountysheriff.com/about/emergency_management
For Union County, we only know of a countywide site: http://ucnj.org/government/public-safety/emergency-management/
The Somerset County website appears to be down at present: www.co.somerset.nj.us/_ongoing/somerset_county_office_of_emerge.htm
Even if no organized response is happening in your town, Scouts can do good turns by checking on neighbors in need (with adult supervision).
Yours in Scouting,
Tony Campasano
Chair, Patriots’ Path Council Community Service Committee
